As a conference moderator, you can share any area of your screen, for example your web browser. For the presenter side the screen sharing feature requires a Windows desktop (the viewer side may use any operating system). Screen sharing for Linux and Mac OS X desktops will be available in Q2/2007.

Here you can download the screen sharing client.

To use screen sharing inside your conference, please follow these steps:

1. Login with your spreed user account. Therefore, use your email and password.

   

   If you don't have a spreed user account yet, you can register for free.

2. Now, create a new conference.

   

3. Subsequent you can invite participants and add files and presentations to your conference.
4. After joining your conference, start the conference by pressing the Play button.

   

5. After starting the conference you can activate the screen sharing as a moderator. Use the Screen sharing button in the lower right corner of the conference interface. If you use the screen sharing feature for first time you get the notice that the screen sharing client wasn't started yet. In this case, use the download button to download the latest release of the screen sharing client If you have already installed the screen sharing client, please step further to point number 7.

   

6. Save the file spreed.exe somewhere on your computer, for example on your Desktop.

   

7. Start the screen sharing client by executing the file spreed.exe.
8. A dialog box informs you about an additional menu item by which you can share single windows.

   

9. A spreed tray icon is now located at the taskbar. With the tray icon you can control the screen sharing client.

   

10. By right-clicking on the icon you can access the context-menu.

    

11. The menu item Network configuration let you configure the usage of a proxy server. If you want to take the proxy configuration of the Internet Explorer, just click automatic.

    

12. To share a window with the screen sharing client, click on the program icon of the window which you would like to share and choose Share this window from the context menu.

    

13. The content of the window is now transferred to all conference participants. With the context menu of the tray icon you can activate the preview function. So you always can see which area of your screen is currently transmitted to the conference pariticpants.

    

14. As long as the screen sharing is active, the spreed tray icon is displayed with black background.

    

15. To share another window, just follow the steps outlined in point 12. If you want to end the screen sharing you can either choose Quit screen sharing or you also can deactivate the Share this window option in the context menu of the shared window.
